SIOUX CITY -- Brian Keith Cagley, 33, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .

Brian was born on May 23, 1975, in Sioux City, to Richard and Donna (Daggett) Cagley. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools and graduated. He later attended WIT focusing on mechanic classes. Brian had various occupations, some of them working in Knoxville, Tenn., at a mattress factory, as an iron worker and welder in Palm Beach, Fla., for A & A Industries, a laminating floor coating business in Sioux City and another laminating company in Holstein. In Quimby, Iowa, he built furniture and also did construction work. He was also employed with Fremont Tires in Sioux City. Of all these occupations, his life's desire was to weld.

Survivors include his mother, Donna Cagley and stepfather, Richard Mathison of Holstein; his brother, Michael A. Cagley of Nashville, Tenn.; aunts and uncle, Sandra and Mick Edwards of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Nancy Freeman; some close cousins including Jeremy Strom and Jody and Danny Cagley; and also several other cousins. He was liked by many and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Harlie and Laura (Orr) Daggett; and paternal grandparents, Keith and Harriett Cagley.
