Brian Francis Davis

April 14, 1961 — February 25, 2016

Brian F. Davis, 54, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home..
Brian was born on April 14, 1961, in Sioux City. He was the son of V. Francis and M. Irene (Schubert) Davis. He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1979. Brian attended Briar Cliff College and later obtained his Associates Degree from Western Iowa Tech in computer programming.
He was married to Sharen McQueen (Borchers) from 1985 until 1999. In this marriage he was blessed with two children, Trisha and Gregory. As a young man, Brian worked at Solomon’s IGA and Food 4 Less. He later went on to become a meat cutter at Hy-Vee from 1985 until 1999. He then worked as a computer programmer at Wells Blue Bunny and MidAmerican. Brian was currently working as a USDA meat inspector at Tyson Foods.
He retired after 22 years of service from the 185th Refueling Squadron of the Iowa Air National Guard. He had a love not only for the 185th but for this country. He was proud to have served. Within the 22 years, he held many areas of expertise ranging from carpentry, ammunitions and computer programming. He was a member of the Sioux City Elks Lodge 112 and enjoyed riding his Harley. He was an avid bowler, hunter and loved his Kansas City Chiefs. He loved spending time with his children that he so loved and was very proud of both of his children and their accomplishments.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Trisha of Sioux City and Gregory of Holstein, Iowa; his brother, Kevin Davis of Davie, Fla.; his sister, Cheryl (Davis) Claeys of Sioux City; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat (Ron) Wolf of Sioux City, Tom (Karen) Claeys of Hinton, Iowa, Phil Claeys of Sioux City, and Don (Lisa) Claeys of Sioux City; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt and uncle, John and Helen Hall; his brother-in-law, Larry Claeys; and several aunts and uncles.
