Sioux City - James Bruce Trobaugh, 81, Sioux City, loving husband and father, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at home after battling acute leukemia.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Andell of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Better known as "Bruce" to all of his friends and relatives, he was born on July 22, 1931, in Sioux City. Bruce was one of fifteen children born to Roy and Mae Trobaugh.
He married his high school sweetheart, Esther Bremmer on June 4, 1949. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and was employed by Swift Meat Packers as a butcher.
He was an avid golfer, card player and Hawkeye fan. He loved playing baseball as a youth. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved to help anyone who needed it.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Esther; three children and their spouses, Ron and Linda Trobaugh of Urbandale, Iowa, Jolene and Ray Marshall of Grand Haven, Mich., and Diane and Ted Peters of Omaha; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Susie Paugh, Jerry Trobaugh, Etta Seaton, Pat McGinnis, Dutch Trobaugh, Genivieve Frazee and Millie Hogan.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby and siblings, Bill Trobaugh, Den Trobaugh, Maggie Gilkinson, Vine Nelson, Sis Hill, Gene Trobaugh and Bertha Whitlock.
