Buell L. "Buzz" Schager, 80, of Sioux City died Monday, June 15, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating.
Buzz was born on March 5, 1935, in Wynot, Neb., the son of Lloyd and Ella (Konegni) Schager. He was raised in Bronson, Iowa, and graduated from Bronson High School in 1953. Buzz came to Sioux City in 1957.
On May 22, 1957, he married Peggy Kapfer in North Sioux City. The couple made their home in Sioux City. Buzz worked for Needham Packing Co., and later in the carpentry field. He ran the lounge at the Biltmore Restaurant and owned and operated the Big Apple Restaurant & Lounge in Sioux City for five years.
Buzz enjoyed bowling, golfing and working in his garden. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Sioux City; four daughters, Patty (Bill) West of Sioux City, Sandy (Tim) Farrer of Sioux City, Lori (Nate) Limoges of Renner, S.D., and Connie (Mike) Jahnke of Sioux City; one son, Tom Schager of Lauderdale by the Sea, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Nathan, Heather, Lindsey, Josh, Erica, Emily and Nic; 11 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Dale (Margaret) Schager, Lowell (Norma) Schager, and Dean (Mary) Schager.
