Burbridge "Burb" Beavers, 75, of North Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Liz Tucker officiating. Burial will be in McCook Cemetery, North Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Burbridge was born on Feb. 1, 1940, in Jefferson, S.D., the son of Burbridge and Ella (Streeter) Beavers. He grew up in the Sioux City area, attending Woodrow Wilson School.
Burb married Marcia McKinney on June 27, 1959. More than 59 years together, they made their home in Sioux City and South Dakota. In his early years, Burb was a hog farmer and a happy, polite bus driver. He was always whistling. In later years, he worked construction for his best friend, Paul McKenzie, and special friend, Virgil Klemensen.
Burb was a wonderful husband and father. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed gardening, playing cribbage, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; six children, Kim (Mike) Flanders, Lynn (Terry) Peters, Brad (Jackie Quinn) Beavers, Patty Derochie, Rhonda (Tony) Rapp and Monica (Troy) Wilson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters, Rosie (Clarence) Verdoorn, Tom Beavers, Danny (Rhonda) Beavers, Harold (Charlene) Beavers, Mary Thompson, Raleigh (Brenda) Beavers, Sherry McClure, Nellie Harris, Dennis Beavers, Tammy Beavers and Pammy (Paul) Ackerman; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Peters, Joshua Beavers and Jonathon Flanders; a sister, Ella Johme; and two brothers, Charlie and Robert Beavers.
