Sioux City - Carl A. Kellen, 80, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Carl was born on July 26, 1932, in Granville, Iowa, to Henry and Dorothy (Kokenge) Kellen. He graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High in 1951 and was a member of the Naval Reserve.
He was united in marriage to Joan Wieseler on June 15, 1955, in Newcastle, Neb. He worked in sales for Booth Fisheries and Consolidated Foods for more than 31 years, retiring in 1995.
Carl was a member of Nativity Parish. He enjoyed bowling, classic cars, boating on the river, and spending time with family. Carl was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joan; children, Keith (Laura) Kellen of Sioux City, David (Linda) Kellen of Sioux City, Lori (Steve) Wendt of Sioux Falls, S.D., Dan (Roxanne) Kellen of Sioux City, Jim (Diane) Kellen of North Liberty, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a infant son, Michael; and two sisters, Bernice (Paul) Gahan and Arleen Kellen.
