Carmen R. Thompson, 70, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Whitfield United Methodist Church in Sioux City with interment following in Calvary Cemetery. Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Carmen was born on March 27, 1947 in Los Angeles, the daughter of Albert Earl and Frances Sherry (Calhoun) Le Shure. The family later moved to Sioux City where she attended Sioux City Community Schools graduating from Central High School with the class of 1965.
She married Ide Frank Thompson in 1966, and the couple later divorced. She formerly worked as a bookkeeper for Fashion Floors and Slumberland. She enjoyed coin collecting, doing crossword puzzles and sewing. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Terry Thompson and his wife, Lisa; Jerry Thompson; Dawn Wiebelhaus and her husband, Trent; Daniel Thompson and his wife, Kari; Valerie Kots and her husband, Mark; and Vincent Brehm. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Adams and her husband, Mark; and two brothers, Dennis Le Shure and his wife, Mary; and Steve Schon and his wife, Lori.
