Carol J. Gilbert, 67, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Carol was born on Dec. 9, 1948, in Sioux City, to Lloyd and Doris (Frahm) Patten. She graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1967 and was a lifelong resident. Carol worked as a meat packager for IBP-Tyson for more than 30 years. She was a hard worker and made many friends during her time at Tyson.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff and enjoyed working in the yard, and playing with her dog, Lizza.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Kris Fleming of Lincoln, Neb.; son, Dave Gilbert of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Zoie, Aven, Brylee, and Chelsea; sisters, Dorothy (George) Koch of Newcastle, Neb., and Charlotte Patten and significant other, Kenny, of Onawa, Iowa; brother, Dale (Nancy) Patten of Sergeant Bluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
