Catherine L. Chedester, 80, of Sioux City died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerome P. Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Catherine was born May 11, 1933, on a farm near Oto, Iowa. She was baptized Catholic. Catherine attended school and graduated from Oto High School.
She married Vernon Chedester on Aug. 23, 1954, at Corinth, Miss. Catherine worked at the Sioux City Battery and as a child care provider for over 20 years.
Catherine was musical. She sang music, played the drums and the banjo.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Vernon Chedester of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Cheri and Frank Cosgrove and Gina and Bill Myers, all of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda Woods; twin sons, Michael and Vernon; siblings, Bill Green, Marvin Green, Rosalee Blume, Dale Green, Harold Green, Melvin Green, Guiles Green, Delores Heath and an infant sister, Patricia Green.
