SIOUX CITY | Cathy J. Barnes, 56, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at her residence.
Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Cathy was born on June 1, 1956, in Sioux City, to Charles and Paddy (Frazier) Mallett. She graduated from North High School in 1974. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 2007, where she received her bachelor's in education. She had an ESL endorsement and taught middle school at Sacred Heart.
Cathy loved her pets, camping, boating, traveling and waterskiing. Summer was Cathy's season. She spent this summer in her new camper at the lake. She was a loving wife to her husband and mother to her two children. Her family was always her priority. Cathy loved spending time with all her family including her nieces, nephews and many, many close friends.
Survivors include her husband, Perry Barnes; two sons, Paul and Samuel Barnes; her mother, Paddy Mallett; two brothers, Bill and Mary Mallett, and Brian Mallett; and a sister, Karen and Dale Beckner.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Janet Parcell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family for future designation.
