Dakota Dunes, S.D. - Cedric R. "Dick" Trudeau, 86, of Dakota Dunes died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson, S.D. The Rev. David Roerich will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Cedric was born on July 24, 1927, on a farm in rural Jefferson. He lived in the area most of his life. He attended the Gibson Country School and Jefferson High School. In 1945, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Philippines.
After the service he returned to Jefferson, where he married Elaine Rosenbaum on June 11, 1951. Cedric worked at Armour Meat Packing Co. until it closed. He then worked at Cargill Nutrina until he retired. He also enjoyed farming.
Cedric was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson and the REACT CB group in Sioux City. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, car racing and attending air shows. He was a loving hardworking man who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Dakota Dunes; four children, Curtis and Kathy Trudeau of Caledonia, Mich., Cheryl and Jack Wyatt of Pipestone, Minn., Gary and Lisa Trudeau of Hardwick, Minn., and Michael Trudeau of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jamie, Jordan, Merissa and Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Gabe; his brother, Robert Trudeau of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rose (St. Onge) Trudeau; a brother, Armand; and a sister, Alice Wenburg.
