Charles L. Dawdy, 77, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Visitation will be noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Charles was born on Jan. 28, 1938, near Oto, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Fannie (Riley) Dawdy. He attended school and graduated from Oto High School.
Charles married Beverly Pedersen in 1962 in Homer, Neb. They made their home in Sioux City. Charles worked for the city of Sioux City for more than 41 years, retiring in June 2000.
Charles was an AFSCME Union member. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed horseshoes, golfing, watching the Chicago Cubs, the Bulls and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Sioux City; daughter, Kim (Ken) Bauer of Correctionville, Iowa; son, Corey Dawdy and fiancee, Jessica of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy (Tammie) Bauer, Christina Bauer, Valerie (Ty) Ericsson, Nathan (Renee) Bauer, Joshua Bauer and fiancee, Az, Amber (Nick "Fluff") Meadows, Todd (Mel) Bauer, Lizzie, Dustin, Grace and Eliza Dawdy; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Biederman of South Sioux City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Wendy Bauer; and four brothers, Clayton, Larry, Dick and Jim.
