Charles "Ed" Tomlinson III, 76, of Sioux City, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at a local care facility.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of The Nativity. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Charles was born in Sioux City, on Oct. 24, 1941, the son of Charles and Isabel (Vander Schoor) Tomlinson II. He attended Sioux City Community Schools and graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1959. He then attended Morningside College, and then later in life attended several different banking schools.
He was united in marriage with Rita Edna Burns on May 1, 1965 in Sioux City. Ed served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Guard here in Sioux City for several years. He was stationed in Clovis, N.M. Ed was employed for a few years as vice president at Norwest Bank in Sioux City before working at Prince Manufacturing as credit manager for several years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the Lions Club, and Church of the Nativity, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic minister. Ed loved to golf, play cards, and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed coaching all of his children and grandchildren in all sports in which they participated.
His is survived by his wife, Rita; his daughters, Tammy Trudeau of Sioux City, Tina Johnson and her husband, Bob of Sergeant Bluff, Tonia Sieperda and her husband, Dean of Shawnee, Kan., and Teri Stoos and her husband, John of Sioux City; his son, Eddie IV and his wife, Kristina of Sergeant Bluff; his 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jim Tomlinson and his wife, Jane of Arizona.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leslie.
