Charles Rowse

SERGEANT BLUFF -- Charles Lee Rowse, 96, of Sergeant Bluff passed away March 13, 2010, in Embassy Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Werley of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday, with a Masonic service at 10 a.m. conducted by the Morningside Lodge 615, at the funeral home. Charles Lee Rowse was born on May 22, 1913, to William and Lulu (Hester) Rowse, in Ignacio, Colo. At a young age, the family moved and Charles grew up in the Cushing, Correctionville and Moville, Iowa, area, graduating from Moville High School with the class of 1931. While in high school, he played football and was part of a dance band playing the violin and piano.
Charles and Lois Bray Stevens were married in the late 1930s and made their home in Sioux City. He worked in various shops in the area as a sheet metal journeyman. During World War II, the family lived at Wright Paterson Field, where he did sheet metal work on the military planes.
Charles was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a Mason at Blue Lodge and in later years a Shriner, 32nd degree and was active in the sheet metal's Local No. 3. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He wrote and had published mini editorials in the Sioux City Journal.
Charles is survived by daughters, Joan B. Morton of Chicago, Ill., and Patricia L. Rowse of Sioux City; various extended family members; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 2007; brother, Leonard; and sister, Hazel.
