SIOUX CITY -- Clarice Louise Aust, 89, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Bickford Cottage.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Clarice Louise (Larson) Aust was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Sioux City to Louis and Olava (Grindberg) Larson. She graduated from East High School in 1939 and then attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minn., for one year. She then enrolled in the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her R.N. in 1943.
Clarice served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during World War II prior to her marriage to Bennett Clinton Aust in 1945. Clarice and Bennett settled in Sioux City, where they had three sons and one daughter.
She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was an active member of the Scandinavian Society. Clarice's priorities were faith, family and service to others, for she truly had a servant's heart. She loved to sew and bake and especially loved the beauty of nature. She had a special gift for helping her children and grandchildren to know how much they were loved by her and by God.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, David (Cathy) Aust, Richard (Shelley) Aust and Robert (Dianne) Aust; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn (James) Bolden; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Aust and Patt Anderson; along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters; and one brother.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the Alzheimer's Association.
