Claudette H. "Cookie" (Cakebread) Davis, 71, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, surrounded by her family after a long illness.
A prayer service will be 4 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of life luncheon will follow the prayer service at the resource center hall.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1943, in Sioux City, the daughter of Claude and Frances (Tweet) Cakebread. She was a graduate of East High School.
She married and had two daughters, Terrie and Stacie, whom she was able to stay at home to raise for several years. She later worked at MCI Communication. She worked for many successful years and was great on the phones, where she received many awards throughout her years there.
She loved spending time her family, friends and pets. She also enjoyed vacationing in the mountains of Colorado where her parents managed a campground in her family’s early life. She loved hosting family parties and holidays where she enjoyed cooking and baking for others. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she decorated her home elaborately to show her spirit and love for the season. She also had a great love for Elvis, even visiting Graceland and seeing him in concert.
She was loved by so many and even was the “adopted mother” to many of her daughters’ friends as they were growing up.
Left to honor her memory include her two daughters, Terrie Schultz-Davis of Sioux City, and Stacie and her husband, Marc Girard; her granddaughter, Grace Davis of Sioux City; her best friend, Helen Brouillette; a half sister, JoAnne Snooze, formerly of Sioux City; as well as many other friends, family and loved ones.
