Clifford Tyler Edwards, 90, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Merrill Muller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Clifford Tyler Edwards was born on April 24, 1925, and raised on a farm in Jefferson, S.D. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served on the USS Richmond in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
He married Angeline "Nellie" Mozak on Jan. 24, 1947. He worked for Montgomery-Wards prior to joining the advertising staff at the Sioux City Journal. He worked in the local retail advertising department for seventeen years. He became classified advertising manager in 1964 working for 30 years before retiring.
Clifford was a member of Sioux City Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Daily Press, Mississippi Valley and a member of ANCAM (American Newspaper Classified Advertising Manager). Clifford served on numerous committees during his 47 years in the newspaper business. He also served on the board of Mr. Goodfellow and Immaculate Conception. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W., American Legion, and Eagles Club of South Sioux City.
Cliff's hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating, golfing and ballroom dancing.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Ron) Grubel of Sioux City, and Patti Bryan of Beresford, S.D.; one son, Dennis (Candace) Edwards of Papillion, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, Lori Krzemien, Mark Grubel, Kimberly (Matthew) Topf, Aimee Jensen, Roth (Meagan) Edwards, Dane (Ashley) Edwards, Amber (Roy) Harris, Ashli (Joe) Bak, Audri (Josh) Carlson, and Austin Bryan; 16 great-grandchildren, Luke and Joelle Krzemien, Drew, Landon, and Gage Topf, Zoee, Zane, and Zaden Jensen, Tatum and Skyler Edwards, Morgan, Mason, Marshall, and Murdok Harris, and Stormi and Summer Carlson; and one brother, Bill Edwards.
Clifford was preceded in death by the wife, Nellie; his parents William and Ethel Edwards; and sister, Alma Kovarna.
