Connie Jean "Cookie" (Garner) Hamilton, 69, of Sioux City went into the arms of her beloved husband, Edward, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Connie was born on June 19, 1945, in Walthill, Neb., and moved to the Sioux City area at a very early age. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1963. After graduation, she worked in the packing plant industry, managed a chain of convenience stores, and was a customer service representative at Younkers Department Store.
For Connie, the best gift of all was to be a mother, and that dream came true in May 1974, when she received a call that would change her world forever. She welcomed daughter, Alicia, into her life with open arms and a loving heart.
On Sept. 7, 1978, she was united in marriage to Edward Seth Hamilton. This union provided a warm and loving family for their daughter, Alicia.
Her interests included spending time with family, gardening, and vocally expressing her opinion on politics, she had a direct line to the White House. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her sister, Betty, and her mother, Doris, until she passed away at age 92.
Connie loved to spend time with her grandkids in Colorado and visiting Estes Park and Watson Lake. She always said she could breathe once she saw the mountains and all the weight of the world was gone.
She is survived by her daughter, Alicia (Bill) Anderson; grandson, Logan Edward; granddaughter, Kylie Rose; sisters, Cheryl (Pat) Boyle and Betty Garner; brothers, Bernard (Beautiful Mary) Garner, Steven Garner, and Donald (Karlene) Garner; numerous nieces and nephews; many other family members; several special friends (you know who you are); and her beloved dog, Penny Lane.
