SIOUX CITY -- Connie M. Hobbs-Curl, 61, of Sioux City died May 29, 2010, at her residence under hospice care following complications with cancer.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Valeri Heller officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Connie was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Sioux City, the daughter of Albert N. and Iva (Petit) Hobbs. She was raised in Sioux City, where she attended West High School.
She married Bill Curl in 1971, in Dakota City. After her marriage, she moved to Florida and lived there until 2004, when she returned to Sioux City. She owned and operated a carnival-equipment company for many years.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She loved yard sales and was a super shopper. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a member of the Siouxland Senior Citizen Center.
She is survived by two sons, Dwayne Curl and his wife, Kelly of Spring Hill, Fla., and Billy Curl and his wife, Barbara of Virginia; a daughter, Cindy Gorman of Lake City, Fla.; her mother, Iva Amick of Sioux City; a sister, Sharon Hobbs-Hardin of Trenton, Ill.; two brothers and their wives, Dennis and Barbara Hobbs of Whiting, Iowa, and Richard and Kathy Hamm of Sioux City; and eight grandchildren, Jesse Curl, Kyle Curl, James Gorman, Hope Gorman, Tyler Gorman, Aubrey Gorman, James Curl and Remi Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert N. Hobbs; and a close friend, Lois Malloy.
