SIOUX CITY -- Constance W. "Connie" Temple, 85, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial of the ashes will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a St. Teresa Study Club rosary at 4 p.m. and the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Connie was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Sioux City, to Hobart and Abbie (Kneedler) Wood. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. She worked at Weatherwax Department Store for a while.
She married Robert C. Temple on June 4, 1949, in the Cathedral of Epiphany in Sioux City. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her care and concern for others set an example for all.
Connie was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served on the school board. She also was very involved with St. Teresa Study Club, the Martha Washington Chapter of the D.A.R., P.E.O and the Sioux City Junior League. She also volunteered her time with many local organizations. She loved to entertain and most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include children, Craig (Mary) Temple of Kansas City, Mo., Tom (Bonnie) Temple of Fridley, Minn., Liz (Chuck) Baxter of Sioux City, Bill Temple of Bloomington, Minn., and Cathy (Mark) Stensrude of Prior Lake, Minn.; grandchildren, Craig and Ben Temple, Dana (Mike) Herman, Logan Temple, Jessica and Nick Baxter, Rhett, Temple and Marin Stensrude; one great grandchild, Grace Herman; her twin brother, Charles (Birdie) Wood of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Virginia Snowden of Earlington, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband in 2010; her parents; her stepfather, Joseph Hartwig; and a sister, Margaret DuBois.
A memorial will be established in her name and may be directed to the family.
