Cory George Nickles

SIOUX CITY -- Cory Nickles, 29, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, in Council Bluffs.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Cory George Nickles was born April 30, 1979, in Sioux City to Gary and Terrie (Mize) Nickles. He attended and graduated from Elk Point, S.D., high school with the class of 1997. He also received an electrician certificate from Western Iowa Tech Community College. He lived in Green Bay, Wis., Sioux City and lived and toured Germany prior to moving to Council Bluffs. He was employed with Metro Electric in Omaha.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Vikings fan. He was known to play his bass guitar along with music and enjoyed his X-Box.

He is survived by his special friend, Laura Pollard of Omaha; his father, Gary Nickles and his special friend, Marsha Thomas of Sioux City; his mother, Terrie Mize of Sioux City; sisters, Carrie Nickles and her fiance, Sonny Powell of Le Mars, Iowa, Shari Ellis of Sioux City and Vicki and her husband, Thomas Woods of Kansas City, Mo.; grandparents, Wilma and Carroll Strand of Elk Point, S.D., and Joan Mize of Bronson, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernie Nickles and George Mize.
