SIOUX CITY -- Curtis E. Craig, 69, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army Reserves following the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .
Curtis was born June 2, 1941, in Sloan, Iowa, the son of John D. and Geneva E. (Grimes) Craig. He attended Heelan High School. He served in the U.S. Army in 1961. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
He married Jeanie L. Murphy on May 11, 1963, in Sioux City. To this union three children were born. He was employed as a route salesman for City Club and Messer Distributing Companies from 1963 to 1994.
He was a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards, and taking trips to Missouri to visit family members. He got involved in family geneology. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and watching their sporting activities. He enjoyed all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their activities.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Randy Bures of Hiawatha, Iowa, and their children, Katie Bures and her daughter, Madeline, Jacquelyn and her husband, Kasey Kreuzer and Tommy Bures; a daughter, Christine Craig of Sioux City and her children, Christopher Craig and his wife, Danica and their children, Coby and Casin Craig, Jennifer Mitchell and James Barley and their baby to be and Abby Boham; a son, Scott Craig and his promised friend, Ranae Hasselquist of Sioux City and his children, Breanna Craig, Cody Craig, and Alexis "Dolly" Craig; four brothers, Jasper Craig of North Sioux City, Joseph Craig and his wife, Kathy of Lumberton, N.C., William Craig of San Diego, Calif., and Phillip Craig and his wife, Karen of Mankato, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Craig of Ponca, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Benjamin Craig.
