Curtis Ward "Curt" Jones

MOVILLE, Iowa -- Curtis W. "Curt" Jones, 79, lifelong resident of Moville died April 22, 2011, at his residence.
There will be a Masonic service at 10 a.m. Friday at Moville United Methodist Church, with a memorial service to follow. The Rev. Ed Frank will officiate the memorial service. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Curt was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Moville, the son of Clayton and Esther (Rhue) Jones. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Moville. Curt moved with his family into Moville in 1945 and graduated from Moville High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1949 to 1955, being stationed in Great Lakes, Ill., and Newport, R.I. He served with the U.S. Navy Air Reserve from 1955 to 1957, stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Lincoln, Neb.
Curt farmed the family farm with his father for four years before going into retail sales work. He also worked for different farmers in the Moville area and at Flewelling Sand and Gravel in the 1960s. In 1965, he went into the life and health insurance business as an independent agent, moving to Carroll, Iowa, in 1965, writing insurance in that area. In 1970, he moved back to Moville and bought a seed and implement business, which he ran for some time. In 1974, he went to work in the X-ray department at St. Joseph Hospital, which later became Mercy Medical Center, taking early retirement in 1993 after nearly 20 years. After that, he kept busy with lawn work and crafts.
He belonged to Moville United Methodist Church. He was a Mason and a member of Trial Lodge 532 in Moville. He was a friendly person who was known and loved by all that knew him.
Survivors include three nephews, Jeff and Linda Jones of Milwaukee, Wis., Mike and Jean Jones of Madison, Wis., and Tom Jones of Minneapolis; a grandnephew, Troy Jones of Milwaukee; and two grandnieces, Brittany of Madison and Carly Jones of Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Jones.
