SERGEANT BLUFF -- Cynthia C. Beauman, 67, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunnybrook Community Church, with the Rev. Jeff Moes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Cynthia was born Nov. 30, 1943, in Safe, Mo., to Donald and Wanda Copeland. She was a long time resident of Sergeant Bluff. During this time, she worked in the lab at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. She later became the director of NorthPark, which led to her career in Spencer. She moved in 2000 to served as the executive director of Northwest Aging Agency.
She enjoyed her career and her family. She found herself many times traveling to see her three daughters. She enjoyed playing with her eight grandchildren, hiking, reading and traveling. She recently fulfilled her lifelong dream of hiking Bryce Canyon.
Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Laura Armstrong (Troy) of Westfield, Iowa, Aimee Mares (Jeff) of Papillion, Neb., and Sara Freiberg (Dwight) of Sergeant Bluff; her eight grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Morris of Ava, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Copeland and Wanda Bonham.
