Sioux City - Dale W. Allner, 86, of Sioux City passed away Sept. 29, 2013, at Touchstone Living Center.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dale was born on Jan. 23, 1927, in Sioux City, to William and Ann Allner. Dale served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for several years at Great Northern Railroad, which later became the Burlington Northern Railroad.
He married Naomi Nassed in Elk Point on April 12, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Dale was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed touring the western United States. In particular, he enjoyed visiting his family, and taking in Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Allner and Mark Allner; grandsons, Matt, Mitchell, Curtis, and Nicholas; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Leona and Betty; and brothers, Burt and Lawrence.
