A beloved man, Dale L. Clark, 94, went home to be with God on September 1, 2022.
A visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave (Hawkeye attire is encouraged). Dale was born in Woodbine, IA to Henry S. and Laura L. Clark on January 3, 1928. In his youth, he played basketball and became a Golden Glove Boxer. While attending a school dance, he found the love of his life, Helen D. Conyers. The two were joined in marriage December 10, 1950. Dale and Helen moved to Omaha, NE where Dale worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He started as a telegrapher and went on to be a Safety Officer and a Special Agent.
Dale loved playing cards, especially Bridge. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, and cheering on the Hawkeyes.
Dale and Helen raised three children (Terry, Deanne, and Pam). Dale taught by example. He was very patient, loving, caring, and a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor.
Dale moved to Heritage Northern Hills after losing Helen. He lived there independently for 12 years. Dale was a member of First Christian Church in Sioux City for over 50 years. He was the chair of the Deacons and bowled several years on the church bowling team.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Debbie) Clark of Ozark, MO; daughters, Deanne (Brian) Hanson of Hinton, IA, Pam (Loren) Schroeder of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and their children, Jenni (Brandon), their son, Deron of Sergeant Bluff, Jonathon (Jenna) their sons, Franklin and George of Ames, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Clark; brothers, Glenn Clark and Marian Clark; sisters, Vida Gamba and Henrietta Lowther.
