Dale L. Mahin, 76, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dale was born on March 16, 1938, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Gerald and Irene (Burns) Mahin. He graduated from Correctionville High School.
He was united in marriage to Joan Brown on March 14, 1959, in Correctionville. Dale was a dedicated barber for more than 50 years in his own shop, taking time to visit with each of his clients.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing, watching Iowa Hawkeyes, and was an avid Morningside football and basketball fan. Dale also enjoyed his weekly morning coffee with friends. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he loved to volunteer and was an usher for many years. Dale especially liked living and working on his acreage with his livestock and tractors.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joan of Sergeant Bluff; children, James (Mirna) Mahin of Columbus, Ohio, Kimberly (Steve) DeVries of Jefferson, S.D., Timothy Mahin and Edie, Sergeant Bluff; four grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Mahin, Brock DeVries, and Jade Mahin; siblings, Al (Sandy) Mahin of Elk Point, S.D., Jeannette Kellen of Palm Bay, Fla., and Clara (Jerry) Springer of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
