Dan R. Main, 68, of Sioux City passed away Sept. 21, 2016, after a brief illness with cancer at his home.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Floyd Township Cemetery at Bronson, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Dan was born March 16, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pa., to James and Loretta (Webb) Main.
He was united in marriage to Jeanie Amick on Nov. 25, 1967, in South Dakota. Dan worked at Sioux City Transit System as a maintenance supervisor for 38 years.
Dan was a member of Sioux City Elks Lodge 112.
He enjoyed cars, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family, especially at the lake house. Dan also enjoyed tinkering with everything. He was a Mr. Fix-it and he was very insistent on perfection.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jeanie Main; daughter, Barb (Pat) Dean; son, Scott (Jamie) Main; grandchildren, Cheyanne, David, Cori and Colby; brothers, Mike (Deb) Main, John (Lisa) Main, Pat (Gena) Main, Tim Main and Walt (Debbie) Main; sisters, Char (Doug) Rose, Lorri (Jeff) Persinger and Gail (Bruce) Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave (Lynnelle) Amick, Randy Amick, Lois (Dean) Magnussen, Bill Amick, Andy (Jesus) Amick and Tammy Amick; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Harley (Florence) Amick; and brothers-in-law, Allen, Rick and Terry Amick
