Daniel Allan Thomas, 47, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be noon Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Witte officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Daniel was born on Oct. 4, 1969, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Allan and Elaine (Walker) Thomas. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Patrick O'Shaughnessy. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and was a much loved resident at Courage Homes. He enjoyed rock music, the outdoors (the hotter, the better), anything motorized, capturing the house recliner, playing tricks on the staff, long drives in the house van, thumb wrestling, and spending time with his family, especially his twin sister, Sandi.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Elaine O'Shaughnessy of Sioux City; twin sister, Sandra (Doug) Mammen of Sergeant Bluff; nephews, Kael and Luke Mammen; sister, Angie (Danny) Oldham of Everett, Wash.; niece and nephews, Kirsten, Bryce and Jaden; two aunts; one uncle; and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his biological father; step father; maternal grandparents, Chris and Ruth Walker; paternal grandparents, Bill and Verna Thomas, and Ed and Zella O'Shaghnessy; aunt, Luann (Buddy) Haley; and cousins, Chris Gaul and Ronnie Egan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical for the wonderful care they gave Daniel and to Courage Homes for their loving care and compassion they showed Daniel to help him build a life he loved and enjoyed.
