Darla Mae Card, 76, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Embassy Healthcare Community in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, Iowa 51106 with Pastor Kevin Miller officiating. Interment will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, IA at a later date.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa.

Darla was born September 21, 1946, in Charter Oak, Iowa to William H. and Anna Mae (Sorenson) Surber. She grew up in the rural Climbing Hill area and graduated from Lawton High School in 1964. Darla married Cliff Card, he later passed away. Darla worked as a cook for the Biltmore restaurant, Waterman's Daycare and Mid Step Services during her career. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with her fiancé, Jack Lobdell, who was a long haul over the road trucker. When Jack retired the couple lived in Climbing Hill, Yellville, AR, Tea, SD, and later in Sioux Falls, SD at Dow Rummel Village. When Jack passed away Darla moved to Sergeant Bluff to be closer to family.
Her hobbies included playing bingo, putting puzzles together, working on electronic cross stitch puzzles, watching “Leave it to Beaver”, “Days of Our Lives”, traveling, camping and bowling. She especially enjoyed keeping in touch with family. Darla enjoyed country western and Christian music. Her favorite song was "Livin' on Love" by Alan Jackson.
Survivors include her sister, Marilyn and her husband Randy Haafke of Bronson, IA. niece, Tina and her husband Danny Lundquist, nephew, Kirk and his wife Megan Haafke, nephew Kyle and his wife Kalyn Haafke, niece Monica Haafke and nephew Armando Haafke, several great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece and nephews.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cliff Card, daughter Debbie in infancy, stepson, Tim Card Sr., stepdaughter, Becky Armstrong, step grandson, Tim Card Jr., brother, Stanley Surber, nephew Shane Surber, fiancé, Jack Lobdell, longtime care giver to Darla and Jack Russ Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City.
The family would like to "Thank" all the staff, especially the activities coordinator Les, and a special CNA Ashley at Embassy Rehab and Care Center and the nurses from St. Croix Hospice for all the love and care given to Darla.
