Darlene Kay Cole

Darlene K. Cole, 83, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at a Council Bluffs hospital.
Private graveside services will be held in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Darlene was born on June 12, 1933, in Mitchell, S.D., to Charles and Catherine (Weiland) Torbet. She graduated from high school in Mitchell, and moved to Sioux City in the early 70s.
Darlene was united in marriage to Donald Cole in 1973 in Sioux City. Darlene went on to continue her education at Western Iowa Tech Community College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Brenda (Vic) Brown of Carter Lake, Iowa, Christine Cole of Sioux City, and Jami Sewalson of Elgin, Texas; a son, Craig (Brenda) Bainbridge of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and great-granddaughter, Airo Brown.
