Sergeant Bluff - Darline A. Ross, 81, of Sergeant Bluff died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Timothy Bonney officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Darline was born on March 20, 1932, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ola and Marguerite (Coover) Dilley. She attended school in Sergeant Bluff and later earned her GED. She also took a bookkeeping class at W.I.T.
On Jan. 30, 1960, she married Jm Ross. He died on May 17, 1986. Darline worked at Green Gables, Wincharger/ Dyna Tech and 11 years at Younkers as the Estee Lauder representative, her most favorite job.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society-Crimson Glory Chapter. Darline loved to study genealogy, she had a large Barbie collection and she enjoyed gardening and growing her flowers. She would volunteer to cook at the Mary Treglia Center and was a member of the Water Walkers.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Edgar and Iva Slaughter of Duncanville, Texas, and Terry and Jill Slaughter of Sioux City, her special companion, Lee Brennan of Sergeant Bluff; five grandchildren, Kim Slaughter, Shane Perrin, Angie Keegan, Jeremy Slaughter and Jenie Lorenger; nine great-grandchildren; and her dog, Buddi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Karen Perrin; and her brother, Derald Dilley.
