Darold G. Tucker, 80, of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mornngside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be at noon.
Darold George Tucker was born on Feb. 9, 1935, to Norman and Marie (Langley) Tucker. He grew up in the Riverside area and attended Bishop Heelan High School, graduating in 1954.
On July 17, 1954, Darold married JoLene Ann Tuttle at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. They had two sons, Scott and Tom; and a daughter, Jodi.
Darold proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and Air Force.
Darold’s father, Norman, founded Tucker’s Glass Shop in 1956 in South Sioux City. Darold worked for his father until Norman retired in 1975 and sold the business to his sons, Darold and Gary. Darold continued to work hard, providing excellent customer service until he sold the business in 2000. He also served as a South Sioux City councilman from 1980 to 1988.
Surviving loved ones include his wife, JoLene; his two sons, Scott and his wife, Karrissa Tucker of Sergeant Bluff, and Tom Tucker of South Sioux City; his daughter, Jodi and her husband, Curt Miller of Hinton, Iowa; his brother, Gary Tucker of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Troy, Tambi, Shawnee and Shannon; a stepgranddaughter, Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Kandiss, Sam and Hannah; two nieces; his best friend, Jack Vitito; and Darold's beloved pet cat, "Kitty."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Marie Tucker, and his beloved little sister, Joanne, who passed away in 1945 at the age of 6. Darold never got over her loss but is now with her again.
Many will remember him for his sense of humor, compassion, and love of animals, but his generosity and kindness to everyone is his legacy.
