Darrel Wayne Dunbar, 88 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Whitfield United Methodist Church located at 1319 W. 5th St. Sioux City, Iowa with Pastor Beth Lundula officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Whitfield United Methodist Church, 1319 W.5th. St., Sioux City, Iowa.

Darrel was born May 19, 1935, in Onawa, Iowa to Kermit and Nancy (Brooks) Dunbar. He grew up attending Sioux City Public Schools and St. Paul Lutheran School in Sioux City. Darrel entered the US Army on Jan 29, 1954, and was honorably discharged on Jan 18, 1957. When he returned to Siouxland he worked as a diesel mechanic at Missouri Valley Equipment, and Ziegler CAT in Sioux City. After retiring from Ziegler CAT, he worked for the City of North Sioux City, Riverside Car Wash, and part-time at the Dakota Dunes Country Club on the golf course.
Darrel married Jeanette "Jeanie" Steele on December 22, 1990, in Sioux City. He was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church. His hobbies included fishing in South Dakota, playing golf at Sun Valley golf course and woodworking projects for friends and family.
Survivors include his wife Jeanie Dunbar, 2 daughters; Vickie Hainey and Lori Nyreen, stepchildren; Tim (Beth) Brown, Darlynn (Gary) McMullen, Denise (Gary) Duerksen, David (Shawn) Henry and Doug Henry and his significant other Julie Prochello. 6 grandchildren; Daniel (Nicole) Nyreen, Jason (Mayple) McMullen, David (Tina) Henry, Nathan Henry, Nicole (Rustin) Bobier, and Austin (Bri) Duerksen, and numerous great grandchildren.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson Joshua Smith.
