David Olson, 79, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at his residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 2320 Outer Drive. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
David was born on April 22, 1936, in Oberon, N.D., to Oswald and Florence (Burgess) Olson. He graduated from high school in Sheyenne, N.D. David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958 before moving to Sioux City.
He was united in marriage to Jean Sweeney on April 7, 1962, in Sioux City. David was the owner and operator of Olson Sanitation for many years before retiring in 1998.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing poker, and hunting.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Jean of Sioux City; children, Scott Olson of Sioux City, Mitzi (John) Dillingham of Lakeville, Minn., and Steve (Dana) Olson of Omaha; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tilaina Pebley, Mike Olson, Onna Olson, Nick Olson, Maddie Dillingham, Luc Dillingham, Connor Pebley, Lilly Pebley, and Grady Cedillo.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Virginia Erdmann.
