David Colton Parker

David Colton Parker, 18, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Sioux City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church of Dakota City, with Pastor Robert E. Call officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel in Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .

David was born May 11, 1989, in Sioux City to David L. and Leesa S. (Neal) Parker. He grew up and attended Sioux City Public Schools, graduating from West High School on May 23, 2007. While at West High, he was on the debate team. He was currently in his freshman year at Western Iowa Tech Community College, working on an associate's degree in police science.

David had many hobbies which included paint-balling, video games on his PlayStation 3, bowling, camping and winter camping with family, target shooting and trap shooting. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, horror stories, comedy shows, telling jokes and playing jokes on his friends and family. David was very artistic. He loved music and to play the guitar. He also liked to draw and had started to work with his dad to learn how to letter race cars. David enjoyed spending time with family, especially his nieces, Sylvia and Avery; he loved being "Uncle David." He also enjoyed being with friends, especially his best friend, Jake Howard.

Survivors include his parents, David and Leesa Parker of Sioux City; two sisters, Michele Parker and Stephanie and Keith Anderson, all of Sioux City; two nieces, Sylvia and Avery; his grandmother, Neva Neal of South Sioux City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Neal and Dave Parker; his grandmother, Kay Parker; and his great-grandmother, Harriet Kranz.
