David Steffe

September 7, 1934 — November 13, 2011

MOVILLE, Iowa -- David Neale Steffe, 77, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Moville, passed away Nov. 13, 2011, at Rolling Hills Care Facility.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Correctionville, Iowa. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Local arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville. Arrangements in Topeka are under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Moville, to Hilburn Steffe and Lucille Hane Steffe. He graduated from Moville High School in 1952 and joined the Iowa Air National Guard.

He was married to Joyce Karen Larsen in 1954. They farmed for several years before moving to Arnolds Park, Iowa, where David continued to farm and later worked for Berkeley Fisheries.

David loved to fish, watch KU sports and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up.

David is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Linda Steffe of Topeka; daughter, Kathleen Fox of Topeka; son, Steven Steffe of Topeka; grandchildren, Christopher Fox of Kansas City, Kan., and Whitney Fox of Los Angeles Calif.; five brothers, Hilburn Jr. (Mary) of Sioux City, Harlan (Fairy) of Moville, Dirl (Shirley) of Rapid City, S.D., Leslie Steffe (Marilyn) of Athens, Ga., and Steven Steffe of Plainview, Texas; two sisters, Beth Lau (Duane) of Correctionville, Iowa, and Lisa Smouse of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful cat, Fraser.

His parents and a granddaughter, Margie Ann Fox, in infancy, preceded him in death.

We are happy that our husband, father, and grandfather has gone on to meet the Lord and that he is free from his physical suffering. Psalms 23: He leadeth me by the still waters. He restoreth my soul. David's family thanks the caring staff at Rolling Hills Care Facility for their compassionate care while he lived there.
