SIOUX CITY -- Dawn L. Clausen, 77, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Douglas Dandurand officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dawn was born on Dec. 6, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Kenneth and Veronica (McKeever) O'Dea. Dawn was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and was a member of St. Boniface Parish. She graduated from Heelan High School. On Oct. 30,1954, Dawn married Bernard Clausen and he died Feb. 20,1997, in Sioux City.
Dawn enjoyed doing ceramics and reading. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved celebrating it with her family. The most important part of Dawn's life was being with the love of her life, Bernard, and her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kirk and Rhonda of Henderson, Nev., Kevin of Sioux City, Kelly and Roxanne of North Sioux City, and Klint and Nancy of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Trent, Trevor, Jennifer, Joshua, Wendy, Ryan and his wife, Kathy, Sean, Megan and her husband, Ryan, Tyler, Andrew; she will be having a great grandchild born in November; two brothers and two sister, Kenneth and Frances O'Dea of Sioux City, Shirlee and Leroy Rosenbaum of Sioux City, Bonneen Bartle of Sioux City, Shawn and Barbara O'Dea of Walla Walla, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters, Constance Lucart, Kathleen Ross, and Colleen Warren.
A memorial has been established in her name for Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
