DeAune Mae Pixler

DeAune Mae (Boggs) Pixler, 87, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family on February 15, 2025. She was born on June 15, 1937, to Cecile and Lucille (Lau) Boggs. Her stepfather, Leonard Uhl, also played an important role in her life. She attended school in Bronson, Iowa, and Luton, Iowa.

DeAune was married to Richard Pixler, and she had four children: Gerald Pixler, Douglas Pixler, Lorie (Pixler) Solomon, and Darin Pixler.

DeAune was hard-working and worked through the years at Johnson Biscuit, Aalfs Manufacturing, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.

DeAune enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout her life. She had a love for fishing, solving crossword puzzles, and playing Yahtzee with friends and family. Gardening was another hobby that brought her joy.

DeAune’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her children, Gerald Pixler, Douglas Pixler, Lorie (Pixler) Solomon, and Darin (Jami) Pixler. Her legacy also lives on through her four grandchildren: Sonny Solomon, Travis (Kayla) Solomon, Lindsey Pixler, and Nicole Pixler, as well as one great-grandchild, Trent Solomon. DeAune is also survived by her brother, Donald (Chris) Boggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers Duane Lau, Dan Boggs, and Derek Boggs, and her sister Delores (Boggs) Horsley.

DeAune’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness and the special moments she shared with her family and friends will be remembered forever.

Memorial service will be held to honor her life on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside Chapel (1801 Morningside Ave.). Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm until services begin. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa.
