SIOUX CITY -- Deborah J. Ferris, 56, of Sioux City died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a Parish Vigil at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Deborah was born March 15, 1955 at San Francisco, Calif.. As an infant, she was adopted by Gordon and Anna (Wermes) Severson. She attended school in the area, graduating in the first class at North High School. Deb continued her education and received an Associate's Degree of Nursing at the University of South Dakota.
She married Jim Ferris on Aug. 26, 1978 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Together they made their home in Sioux City. Deb worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Unit at St. Luke's, Obstetrics at Mercy Medical Center and over the last years with the Health Department.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a past member of the Siouxland Autism Support Group. Deb loved spending time with her family and their activities.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Ferris of Sioux City; daughter, Sara Ferris of Sioux City; son, Alex Ferris of Storm Lake, Iowa; son, Jake Ferris of Sioux City; grandson, Brock Ferris of Sioux City; brother, Rod Severson of Arlington, Va.; and one niece, Julie Kinsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
