Debra Sue Petronis, 56, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Debra was born on March 15, 1957, in Alexandria, Minn., to Lawrence and Ruth (Culbertson) Bales. She graduated from North High School in 1975 in Sioux City.
She was united in marriage to Michael Mayer and later to Michael Petronis on Sept. 28, 2013, in Sargent Bluff. Debra worked at Unity Point St. Luke's as an admitting clerk for 17 years before retiring in 2013.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, sewing, arts and crafts, and spending time with family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, Jaime, Olivia, Lily, Madelyn, and Aidan.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Michael Petronis of Sioux City; parents, Lawrence (Ruth) Bales of South Sioux City; mother-in-law, Mary Jo Petronis of Sioux City; children, Chris (Tricia) Mayer of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, and Melonie (Cory) Barnes of Sioux City; stepdaughter, Alex Petronis of Bremerton, Wash.; stepson, Aaron Petronis of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Jaime, Lily, and Aidan Mayer, and Olivia and Madelyn Barnes; sisters, Marie Girard of Brimfield, Ohio, Joyce (Jim) Young of Newport, Mich., and Jackie Bales of Sioux City; and a brother, Daniel Meyer of Lisbon, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Susan.
