DeEthel A. (Scheer) Bumann, 93, of Bellevue, Neb., and former longtime Sioux City resident, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha, Neb.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with Pastor Tom LoVan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
DeEthel was born March 6, 1922, in Charlotte Iowa, to Edwin and Lillian (Meggars) Scheer.
She married Richard C. Bumann June 21, 1952, in Sioux City.
DeEthel worked as a waitress.
She was a longtime member of Morningside Lutheran Church, where she was involved in many activities. Her greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include her son, Richard L. (Doreen) of Bellevue; her daughter, Joan Archer of Sioux City; granddaughters, Sarah (Carlos) Ibarra of Bellevue and Amber Archer (fiancé Patrick Monson) of Sioux City; grandsons, Sean Bumann (fiancée Rebecca Seefus) and Erik Bumann of Bellevue; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ardis Scott, Brookshire, Texas; and brother, Myrlan Scheer of Zellwood Fla.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard C. "Dick"; her parents; brothers, Luverne, Alden, Edmer and Kenneth Scheer; and sisters, Regina Dose and Joy Beck.
The family thanks the staff at Montclair for the loving care provided to DeEthel during her time there.
