Delia Beacom, 95, of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Holy Spirit Assisted Living.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Delia was born on July 1, 1920 in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, to Clovis and Bertha (Hess) Jauron. She was raised in the Salix area and graduated from St. Joseph High School (Salix) in 1938.
Delia was united in marriage on Dec. 12, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., to John Beacom. The family lived in several locations before returning to Salix in 1959. John passed away Dec. 15, 1978. Delia moved to Sioux City in 1980. She was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Besides being a loving and dedicated mother to seven children, she was very involved with volunteer work. She was active with the St. Joseph's tabernacle society, Catholic Woman's League, Trinity Heights, Mercy Medical, the Carmelite Guild, and was instrumental in building the St. Mary of the Angels Portiuncula Chapel in Steubenville, Ohio. Delia was also on the board of directors for the American Red Cross. Delia also enjoyed playing tennis, cards, bingo, working with her flowers, and watching her grandchildren. Her belief in God, her Catholic faith, and her family were the cornerstones of her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, William (Rene) Beacom of Sioux City, John (Judy) Beacom Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas, Kathleen (Warren ) Dirksen of Danbury, Iowa, Rosemary Stout of St. Louis, Mo., Maureen (Bill) Hunthausen of Helena, Mont., Judy (Tom) Kreitinger of Manhattan, Mont., and Mary (Mark) Lehr of Sioux City; 41 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Teresa (Harold) Bertrand of Mexico, Mo..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson, Billy Joe Beacom; three brothers, Gerald, Raymond and Delbert Jauron; her sister, Sr. Audrey Jauron, OSM; and grandson, Joseph Dirksen
Pallbearers will be Mathew Lehr, John Beacom, J J Beacom, William Hunthausen, Aaron Krietinger, Seth Krietinger and Jim Becker
