Delores M. Hinds, 82, of Bronson died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes , with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Delores was born Sept. 5, 1931 , at Danbury , Iowa , the daughter of Herman and Christina (Wessling) Peters. She graduated from Danbury High School and while receiving her education, worked at St. Patrick’s Academy.
Delores married John Hinds on June 2, 1951 , at Danbury . Together they made their home in Sioux City . Delores actively supported John and his union duties by keeping the books. They moved near Bronson in 1977, where they started the family saw mill business, John Hinds Custom Cutting.
Delores was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City . She enjoyed woodworking, cross stitching, crossword puzzles, cards, cribbage and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, John Hinds of Bronson; two sons, Chuck Hinds of Bronson, and John "Jack" and Markeen Hinds of Hawarden, Iowa; one granddaughter, Charlee Hinds of Salix, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, Carl Hinds Jr. and LaVonne Steeg of South Sioux City, Ed and Jane Hinds of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Floyd and Martha Hinds of Des Moines, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth; and a twin brother, Donald Peters.
