Dennis Eugene "Butch" Butcher

SIOUX CITY -- Dennis "Butch" Butcher, 58, of Kimball, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, at his residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with Chaplain Kathy Olson of Morningside College officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Dennis Eugene Butcher was born Sept. 23, 1950, in Sioux City, to Clarence and Goldie (Beazley) Butcher. He attended school and graduated from Leeds High School with the class of 1969. He went to Western Iowa Tech Community College and received a certificate in animal science.
On Feb. 12, 1977, he and Deanna Lawson were married at Grace United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Sioux City before moving to Minnesota in 2008. He worked for Herman Brown, which later became Road Machinery, for more than 30 years. He also worked at Menards.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports in general, especially the Twins, Hawkeyes and Colts.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna, of Kimball, Minn.; sons, Joel of Sioux City and Jeff and his fiancee, Alyssa Sweeney, of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Dawn, and her husband, Todd Williams, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Kyleigh Butcher of Sioux City and Kaden Butcher of Aurora, Colo.; his father, Clarence, of Sioux City; sisters, Joyce and her husband, Leary Smith, of Sergeant Bluff and Gloria and her husband, Gary Petersen, of Sioux City; sisters-in-law, Angela and her husband, Dale Scott, of Sergeant Bluff and Sue Gass and her fiance, Kip Axthem, of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a son, Thomas.
