Moville, Iowa - Dennis Lloyd Ferdig, 64, of Moville died suddenly on Friday, June 14, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.

Denny, son of Marshall and Betty Ruth Ferdig, was born Nov. 2, 1948, in Sioux City. He graduated in 1966 from Woodbury Central High School in Moville. He received his nursing degree from Iowa Central Community College in 1974 and his anesthesia degree from Mount Marty College in 1976. Denny worked as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City for more than 35 years.
He married Nancy Petersen on Aug. 3, 1968, at Moville United Methodist Church. Their daughter, Jacqueline was born in 1969. They have lived most of their married life on an acreage north of Moville.
Denny enlisted in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Port Hueneme Naval Base in California and served on the military drill team.
Denny had two passions, building street rods and caring for his acreage. He could usually be found on his tractor or in his shop. He enjoyed helping others with their cars and participating in fun events and cruises. Denny rarely sat down and was always on the move. He treasured his family, especially his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Jackie, son-in-law, Michael, and granddaughters, Mason and Iris; his mother, Betty Ruth; his four brothers, Ron (Mary), Mark (Sandy), Gale (Sheryl) and Lynn (Pam); and his three sisters, Jan (George), Sherry and Jo (Larry).
Denny was preceded in death by his father, Marshall.
