Dennis Lee Krier

Dennis "Denny" Krier, 75, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his home surrounded by family.
Private family services were held. Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dennis was born on Oct. 8, 1939, in Washta, Iowa, the son of Martin and Cecile (Conley) Krier. He graduated from Washta High School in 1958. Dennis entered the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1968.
He married Mary Lefler on Sept. 27, 1962, in Elk Point, S.D. They made their home in the Kingsley-Pierson, Iowa, area until 1990 when they moved to Lake Park, Iowa. Dennis was a dedicated grain elevator manager over the years, retiring to Sioux City in 2001.
Dennis most enjoyed spending time with his family and took great pride in each of his children and grandchildren. A smart and witty man, he often offered words to live by in the form of famous one-liners fondly remembered by all. He lovingly cared for his wife over a 15-year journey with ALS. They created and sold craft items and would donate proceeds to the ALS Association to help with research. Mary died on Dec. 31, 2013.
Survivors include sons, David (Staci) Krier of Des Moines, and Michael (Mary Sue) Jaacks of Chicago, Ill.; daughters, Kim (John) Kreber of Jefferson, S.D., Dee Dee (Mike) Krier-Malchow of Sioux City, and Amy (Rob) White of Dakota Dunes; 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Justin (Jacque), and Brianne Kreber, Keeleigh, Brooklyn, and Mishaela Malchow, Heather and Andrew White, Thomas and Jackson Krier, Jered Jaacks, and Zachary and Kassandra Malchow; two great-grandsons, Kade Lutt-Kreber and Jack Kreber; his mother, Cecile Krier of Sergeant Bluff; three brothers, Ken Krier of North Sioux City, Ran (Nancy) Krier of Lubbock, Texas, and Rick (Judy) Krier of Sioux City; and a sister, Gloria Johnson of Sergeant Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Krier; his father, Martin Krier; and sister-in-law, Marge Krier.
