Dennis E. Utter, 64, of Hebron, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at a hospital in Lincoln, Neb.
Services will be noon Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dennis was born on Sept. 22, 1949, in Sioux City, to William and Jetta (Brown) Utter. He lived most of life in Iowa until moving to Nebraska several years ago to be closer to his kids and grandkids. He was employed as a construction worker for Labor Union 427.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports, playing pool, and shooting darts. He also enjoyed riding horses and had one when he was younger. Dennis made a lot of friends throughout his life and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved talking to his sister, Sharon, on the phone as well as to her kids, Justin and Ginger. Dennis loved spending time with his family, especially his parents, kids, and grandkids.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Denise (Kevin) Fuller of Hardy, Neb., Carrie Utter of Byron, Neb., and Danny (Sabrina) Deshler of Nebraska; his former wife, Karen Stanley of Byron; father, William Utter of Sioux City; sister, Sharon McKay of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Damian, Trey, Destiny, Riley, Deaudra, Tiana, Payton, Josie, Kendra, Eli and Jetta Utter, Lane, Bailey, and Kobe Fuller; great-granddaughter, Delaney Utter; nephew, Justin McKay; and niece, Ginger McKay.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jetta; and grandson, Cody Utter.
