Dennis “Denny” Wilde, 70, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Larkin Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Denny was born on Feb. 14, 1945, in Sioux City, to Delvin and Elaine (Mercer) Wilde Sr. He was united in marriage to Cheri Ebel in 1966 in Sioux City.
Denny was a barber on Pearl Street for 50 years, 48 of them in his current shop. Denny loved his barbershop, where he thrived on great conversations with his customers, many of whom became close friends over the years.
Denny had a lifelong passion for classic cars and spent many happy hours attending car shows with his friends and family. He was a member of the Sioux City Strollers Car Club; he was always proud to show off his 1946 Ford Coupe. Denny lived his life dedicated to his many friends and his family. He will be remembered by everyone as an extremely kind, generous, and considerate man.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cheri, of Sioux City; son, Jay (Ann) Wilde of West Des Moines; three granddaughters, Jessica Schultz, Izabel and Eva Wilde; and siblings, Delvin (Joni) Jr., David, Larry (Cindy), Danny (Sue) and Connie Wilde, Toni Archibald and Mark Stansberry.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
