Diane was born in Sioux City on September 19, 1945, the daughter of Glen and Viola (Barnes) Orth. At an early age the family moved to Saginaw MI. where she married Kenneth Sawatzke I. She returned to Sioux City in 1965 and divorced Kenneth. She was united in marriage with Robert R. Brown on October 19, 1968 in North Sioux City, SD,

She worked at both the Economy Market and Sunshine Food Stores as a meat wrapper. she also worked for The Mail House which opened doors for temporary work with the United States Postal Service before she retired. She formerly attended the Abundant Life Church.

Diane loved her God, her family, and her garden. She was an amazing cook. Her ability to throw together a meal was unmatched, and she seldom used a recipe. During the early years of her marriage to Bob she was very active in the TOPS organization, bowled on many day and evening leagues, and volunteered at her children’s elementary school. For all the joy that she had raising her children nothing could compare to the joy of being Grandma Diane.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Bob of Sioux City, her three sons: Ken Sawatzke II, Russ Brown and his wife Kathie, and Andy Brown and his wife Sharon all of Sioux City. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, her two brothers Mike Orth and his wife Teresa and Don Orth and his wife Elaine, and two sisters Kathy Bata and Wanda Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother George Orth.
